Harold Loyd Hamby

Harold Loyd Hamby, age 76, of Prosper, Texas, passed away March 31, 2014, in McKinney. Harold was born August 16, 1937, in Denton County, Texas, to Olen and Elise (Peterman) Hamby. He married Phyllis Gentle on May 29, 1959, in Prosper, Texas. Harold worked for State Farm Insurance for thirty-six years. He was a member of Prosper Presbyterian Church for over fifty years where he served as an elder. Harold was an avid fisherman and hunter and was well known for his fish fry events. He loved high school sports and attended over fifty consecutive state high school basketball tournaments. Harold loved the Prosper Eagles and anything having to do with the Texas Longhorns.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis Hamby; children, Craig Hamby and wife, Alicia of Prosper, Texas, Valerie Hyden and husband, David of McKinney, Texas, and Tonja Hendrix and husband, Ron of Los Lunas, New Mexico; grandchildren, Chelsea Fribourg and husband, Jay, Chad Hamby, Cody Phillps, Camey Phillips, Zach Hendrix, Casey Hendrix, Sam Hyden, Tim Hyden, and Rachel Hyden; great grandson, Austin Rollyson; and siblings, Woodrow Hamby and wife, Sherrie of Whitewright, Texas, Marilyn Ford of Little Elm, Texas, June Price of Plano, Texas, and Larry Hamby of Prosper, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Charles Hamby.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 2, 2014, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Allen, Texas. Interment will follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery in Prosper, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at the funeral home.
