Halland Dane Burt

Mr. Halland Dane Burt, age 82 of McKinney, Texas, passed away January 30, 2006. He was born on March 19, 1923 in Fairlie, Texas to Willie and Zora (Flowlers) Burt. He married Mary Jane Hendrix on September 14, 1942 in Sherman, TX. He served in the U. S. Army in the 11th Airborne Division as a paratrooper in the Pacific during World War II and was chosen as a bodyguard for General Douglas MacArthur. Mr. Burt worked as a dedicated sales representative for Sysco Foods until his retirement. He was of the Baptist faith. The family would like to thank Dr. Taysir Jarrah, Dr. Monte Jones, Dr. Rashid Rahman, and Dr. Roy Setzenfand, and the nurses at ICU and PCU for their care and concern during his recent illness. Survivors include his daughter, Kay Switch; granddaughters, Cara Switch and Tim Littrell and Casey Switch; great-grandsons, Reece Littrell and Ben Littrell, all of McKinney; brother, Kenneth and Lousie Burt of Carthage, Texas; sister, Mae Heveron of Lewisville, Texas; sisters-in-law, Francis and Glenn Smith of Lake Buchanan, Texas and Nelda Hawkins of DeKalb, Texas. His wife, Jane Burt and brother, Bill Burt, precede him in death. Memorial Services will be held at 4:00 PM, Wednesday, February 1, 2006 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel.
