Funeral services for Hal Corley, 64, of Fairview will be at 2 p.m. Monday, Sept. 13, 2010, at the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel in Allen. Visitation will be at noon. Interment will follow in Ridgeview Memorial Park. Mr. Corley died surrounded by his family Friday, Sept. 10, in Plano. He was born July 26, 1946, in Houston to Raymond and Edna Mae (Harrell) Corley. He graduated from Pasadena High School in 1964 and earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Texas at Austin in 1968. He served in the U.S. Army from December 1968 to November 1970. He married Deborah Cantrell on Jan. 20, 1980, in Garland. He retired from the Bureau of Labor Statistics in 2006 after more than 36 years of service as a federal economist. He enjoyed movies, Broadway shows, golf, poker, good food and doo-wop rock music from the 1950s and '60s. He loved to play games, especially Acquire, and he was a devoted fan of the Texas Longhorns and the Houston Astros. He loved Thanksgiving and being a grandfather to his four grandsons. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Debbie, of Fairview; a daughter, Stephanie Dowlen, and her husband, Scott, of Midland; a son, Jeremy Corley, and his wife, Krista, of Melissa; his mother-in-law, Billie Russell of Garland; an aunt, Joyce Felps of Nederland; a cousin, Carl Felps, and his wife, Debra, of Nederland; two brothers-in-law, Mike Cantrell and his wife, Lorrie, of Garland and Henry Cantrell and his wife, Carrie, of Clute; a sister-in-law, Dawna Taylor, and her husband, Ron, of Wylie; four grandsons, Sam and Sawyer Dowlen and Aidan and Alexander Corley; eight nephews and nieces, Braedon and Rylan Taylor, Michael, Trey, Brian, Stacey and Joshua Cantrell and Jeni Cantrell and her two children, Seth and Cali; as well as many other loving family members and friends.
