Gwendolyn Monette Patty (GG as she was known to her granddaughters), 82 years of age, of McKinney, passed away September 27, 2016, in Plano, Texas. She was born February 24, 1934, in McKinney, Texas, to William Dewitt (Ditt) and Lois Ineta McWhirter Luscombe. Gwen was of the Methodist faith.
Her job with the John H. Harland Company took her to the Denver area in 1981 where she retired after more than 25 years of service. Having a strong work ethic she soon realized total retirement was not for her and began a part-time job with Pace Setters Salon in Lakewood, Colorado. In 2007 she decided to return to McKinney to be close to her grandchildren and other family members at which time she joined Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow where she continued to work until seven weeks prior to her death.
Gwen is survived by sisters, Billie Wilson of Dallas, Texas, and Tajuana Roberts and husband, Gene (Gwen’s ‘Bud’) of Lucas, Texas; daughter-in-law, Casey Patty Burcalow and her husband, Chris whom Gwen affectionately called her son-in-law; granddaughters, Emmah Kate Patty Burcalow, all of Dallas, Texas, and Lillie Jane Parnell of Denton, Texas, as well as several nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
Gwen was preceded in death by her parents, son, Gregory Wayne Patty and Greg’s father, Wayne Patty, and two nephews.
A Graveside Celebration of Life will be held 12:00 noon Saturday, October 1, 2016, at Ridgeview Memorial Park, Allen, Texas. The family will receive friends for visitation from 10:30 – 11:30 A.M. Saturday at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow.
