Grace Irene Hoyt, age 80, of Allen, Texas, passed away December 4, 2011, in Allen. Grace was born June 16, 1931, in Vienna Georgia, to Grover and Bessie (Jones) Pirkle. She grew up in Sycamore, Georgia and attended schools there. Grace graduated from Mercer University with a bachelor degree in education. She taught school for forty-five years, the majority of her career was spent in San Antonio, Texas. Grace loved reading and sewing. She was a member of Cottonwood Creek Baptist Church in Allen. She is survived by her daughters, Carolyn Dowden of McKinney, Texas and Peggy Austin and husband, Tom of Allen, Texas; grandchildren, Kaycee White and husband Mark, Kirk Austin and wife, Andrea, Brian Austin and wife, Miriam, and Chris Rollwitz and wife, Terri of Tomball, Texas; great-grandchildren, Tyler Austin, Tom Austin, Maia Farah, Jake Belcuore, Isaac Austin, Cameron Rollwitz and Caroline Rollwitz; brothers, Eugene Pirkle of Sycamore, Georgia and Otho Pirkle of Macon, Georgia; and sisters, Ethelene Haselton of Burlington, North Carolina and Maybelle Cross of Jackson, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Edwin Pirkle and Estus Pirkle, and sisters, Junie Howard, Geneva Roberts, and Florence Bowen. The family will receive friends during a visitation beginning at 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 6, 2011, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas. Graveside services will be held in Sycamore, Georgia at a later date.
