Funeral services for Gladys Frances Linton, 98 year old Celeste residet, are scheduled for 10:00 a.m. Monday June 16th at the First Baptist Church of Celeste, Texas. Rev. Bob Layman and Rev. Jim Sherwin will officiate. Burial will be in the Celeste Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday June 15th from 6 until 8 p.m. at the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Leonard, Texas. Mrs. Linton was born April 15, 1910 in Mangrum, Oklahoma, the daughter of Charles and Hattie Mercer. She married Lonnie Earl Linton October 22, 1927 at Celeste, Texas. He preceded her in death on December 12, 1979. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Celeste, the Celeste Coffee Club, the Celeste Thursday Club and the Women's Missionary Union (WMU). She died Friday June 13th at Briarcliff Health Center in Greenville, Texas. Mrs. Linton is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Frances and Fred Reynolds of Celeste, Texas and a sister, Nina Jensen of Jackson, Mississippi. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by three sisters: Sue Wren, Lorene Wallace and Dollie Ingram; one brother: Billy Mercer; one half-sister: Dean Borders and one half-brother: Wesley Chaney.
