Gilbert Alan Smith, age 66, of Edmond, Oklahoma passed away on July 6, 2013 surrounded by his family. He was born on May 1, 1947 in Pittsburg, Kansas to Marjorie (Mason) and Raymond Smith. Gilbert was a Regional Land Manager for Continental Resources. He traveled the world as a respected leader in the oil industry for over 40 years. He was known for his leadership and professionalism always accepting challenges with a positive attitude and acting as a willing mentor to others.
Gil is survived by his wife, Marsha Smith of Edmond, Oklahoma; son, Brady Smith and his wife, Kathryn and grandchildren, Bailey and Landen Smith of Frisco, Texas; also son, Aaron Smith of Scottsdale, Arizona; and sister, Donna Copeland of Fayetteville, Arkansas. Gilbert was preceded in death by his parents.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Philip’s Episcopal Church, 6400 Stonebrook Parkway, Frisco, Texas 75034, on Friday, July 12, 2013 at 2:00 PM. Father Clay Lein will be presiding. Interment will follow at Ridgeview West Memorial Park in Frisco. A Visitation will be held in the Narthex of St. Philip’s Episcopal Church at 1:00 PM prior to the funeral service.
