Elder Gilbert R. Harris, age 73, of McKinney , Texas passed away May 26, 2010. He was born September 18, 1936, in Laing , West Virginia , to Francis and Gladys (Brown) Harris. Gilbert married Harriet Patricia Cain on October 17, 1970 in Lynwood , California . He served as an Elder at Eternity Community Church in McKinney. Gilbert proudly served his country during the Korean Conflict in the United States Army. Gilbert is survived by his wife Harriet; daughters, Gilwana Harris of Los Angeles, California, Gayrita Harris of McKinney, Texas, and Mitzi Garner and husband Deshawn of McKinney, Texas; thirteen grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; sisters, Minerva Thomas of Pomona, California, Alma Ross of Snellville, Georgia, and Emma Harris of Washington, D.C. He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis and Gladys Harris; son, Kerwin Harris; daughter, Lomita Maria Harris; brothers, Harvey Harris and Leon Harris; and sister, Gloria Harris. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, June 4, 2010 at Eternity Community Church 309 N. Chestnut St. McKinney, Texas, with Pastor Kenneth Diggs officiating. Family and friends are invited to the funeral home at their convenience to pay their respects and to sign the register book. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Thursday from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Military honors to be presented by the U. S. Army, Monday, June 7, 2010 at 11:00 A.M., at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery, Dallas, TX.
