Gerry Thompson was born November 11, 1932 in Collin County, Texas to Dea Thompson and Hattie Walker Thompson. He died Thursday, December 20, 2012 at the Renaissance in Sherman, Texas at the age of 80. He was a long-time resident of Desert, Texas.
Gerry graduated from the University of North Texas with a Bachelors and Mastors Degree. He then taught Industrial Arts in high school in Denton. He was a long-time rancher. He served his nation in the U.S. Army and was a member of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by brother, Billy Thompson of Desert; sister, Dora Lee Kelley and husband Joe of McKinney; nephew, Keith Kelley and wife Cheryl of San Diego, California; nephew, Kirk Kelley of Portland, Oregon; grand-nieces, Kristen and Kelsey Kelley; He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother Charles.
Funeral Services will be held 2:30 PM, Sunday, December 23, 2012 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel, Whitewright, Texas. Officiating the service will be Pastor Chris Cowen. Burial will follow at Crossroads Cemetery in Desert, Texas. Pallbearers will be Jim Shivers, Tom Gray, Jimmy Frazier, Richard Mays, Bo Elder, and Ron Hawthorne.
The family will receive friends during a visitation on Sunday, December 23, 2012 from 1:30pm until service time at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, Whitewright, Texas.
