Gerard Henry Vaughn, age 93, of McKinney, Texas, passed away February 8, 2016. Mr. Vaughn was born February 14, 1922, in Dallas, Texas, to Gerard H. and Rosalie (Willis) Doerner. He married Lauretta Card on August 31, 1946, in Lawton, Oklahoma. Mr. Vaughn graduated from Sunset High School in Dallas. He was a veteran of World War II, serving as an artillery officer stateside and overseas on active duty and subsequently in the U. S. Army Reserve, retiring with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. Mr. Vaughn attended both Texas A&M University, where he was a member of the Corps of Cadets, and The University of Texas, graduating from The University of Texas. He worked as an accountant for Lone Star Gas for forty years.
He is survived by his daughter, Carol Stoner and husband, David of McKinney, Texas; son, Andy Vaughn of Shady Shores, Texas; grandchildren, Tom Vaughn and wife, Mitzi, Aaron Stoner, and Ruthie Stoner; great-grandchild, Noah Vaughn; sister, Kathleen West of Heath, Texas; and numerous other loving family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife of sixty-three years, Lauretta Vaughn, and his adopted father, Frank Vaughn.
A funeral service will be held at 12:00 Noon, Saturday, February 20, 2016, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Allen, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation one hour prior to the service at 11:00 a.m., at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen. Family and friends are invited to the funeral home at their convenience on Friday, February 19, 2016 to pay their respects and to sign the register book. Interment will take place at 1:00 p.m., on Monday, February 22, 2016, at Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery in Dallas, Texas.
