Gerald "Jerry" Richard May

Gerald “Jerry” R. May of Lucas, Texas passed away March 18, 2015 at the age of 82.  He was born August 5, 1932 to Alexander May and Iva (Ferguson) May in Newell, West Virginia.  Jerry was a 1950 graduate of Newell High School.  He married Dorothy Kiszczak on April 5, 1952 in Chester, West Virginia.  Jerry served his country proudly in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War.  He retired from the Air Force in 1972 after 22 years of military service. After his military retirement he began his second career with National Life Insurance which later become American General Life Insurance.  He retired as general manager of their San Antonio office in 1994.  He was a member of Knights of Columbus Assembly 3004; member of Knights of Columbus Council 9903; Past District Deputy for Knights of Columbus State District 78; and Color Corps Commander, Assembly 3004. Jerry enjoyed woodworking and loved his family deeply.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy May of Lucas, Texas; son, Jerry May, Jr. and wife Kim, and their daughter Emme of Plano, Texas; five grandchildren: Max, Dyllan, Jennifer, Jeanne, Wendy; two great-grandchildren; brothers, Harry “Pete” May of Chester, West Virginia, George “Pat” May of East Liverpool, Ohio, and William “Bill” May of Avoca, Iowa; numerous nephews and nieces; and brother-in-law, Dale Lutton of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, and nephews, Mitch (Tara) Lutton and Greg Lutton and their children.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Cecil May, Thomas May, Hillman May, and Gale May; sisters, Ruth Wright, Minniebelle Silliance, and Doris May.

A funeral mass will be held 12:00 noon., Saturday, March 21, 2015 at St. Michael Catholic Church, 411 Paula Road, McKinney, Texas 75069.   The family will receive friends during a visitation Friday evening from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas.  A rosary will being at 7:00 p.m.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 27, 2015 at Arner Funeral Chapel in Chester, West Virginia. Interment is to follow at Locust Hill Cemetery also in Chester, West Virginia.
