George W. Moses

Long-time Collin County resident and businessman, George W. Moses, passed away at his residence at 12:05 p.m. on April 26, 2006. Mr. Moses was born in Chambersville, TX on October 4, 1931, to “Buddy” Iruna Moses and Annie Lucille (Fortner) Moses. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1951-1955. His varied work career included time working for Texas Instruments in Richardson, TX and for Pacific Scientific Company in Arlington, TX. Mr. Moses started his own calibration company in 1969, traveling to a four-state area to service quality control test equipment for industrial companies. He purchased the Westside Gulf service station in 1973, and operated it until 1983 when he opened his own company---Moses Automotive Service Center- where he worked until his retirement in 2003. Mr. Moses was a member of the Community North Baptist Church in McKinney. He is survived by his wife, Lasca Mallow Moses; daughter, Julia Moses Lambert and husband, David of Thomson, GA; sister, Ethel Jane Donica and husband, Riley of Zafra, OK; brother, Othar Moses and wife, Barbara of McKinney, TX; various nieces and nephews and a loving extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents. A memorial service for Mr. Moses will be held at the Community North Baptist Church on Saturday, April 29, 2006, at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Community North Baptist building fund or American Cancer Society.
