George A. Kaufman

George Kaufman, age 85, of Dallas, Texas passed away January 24, 2004, in Plano, Texas. He was born December 30, 1918, in Fort Smith, Arkansas to John and Mary Belle Kaufman. On April 9, 1939, he married Vara G. Epperson in Siloam Springs, Arkansas. Mr. Kaufman served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of World War II, where he received the Purple Heart, and the Korean Conflict. He was a salesman for Southland Corps with over 20 years of service and a member of the Prestoncrest Church of Christ in Dallas. Mr. Kaufman is survived by his sons, George and wife, Janet of Forney, Texas; Steve and wife, Shauna of Plano, and Marc and wife, Melinda of Allen, Texas; grandchildren, Colleen Vaughan, Brandon, Lyric, Leah, Kori, Jordan, and Lauren Kaufman; great-grandchildren, Austin and Conner Vaughan and Kyle Kaufman; brother, Ben Kaufman and wife, Barbara of Lavaca, Arkansas; sister, Margaret Ann Hawkins and husband, Bob of Fort Smith, Arkansas; and numerous nieces, nephews and other loving relatives. His parents; wife, Vara; brother, John Kaufman, and sister, Sarah Sharp preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, January 28, 2004, in the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 5:00-8:00 p.m., Tuesday at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home.
