George Haywood Hunter

George Haywood Hunter, age 79, of McKinney, Texas passed away Friday, July 12, 2013.  He married Wanda Jean Serzy October 25, 1957 in Tulsa, Oklahoma and was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in McKinney.

Mr. Hunter was a veteran in the U. S. Army from July 28, 1954 to June 27, 1956 where he served as a PFC Specialist in the Signal Corps. and received the Good Conduct Medal.  He was stationed at Ft. Hood, Killeen, TX, Ft. Bliss, El Paso, TX, Camp Gordon, Augusta GA then served another six years in the Reserves.   Mr. Hunter worked for Service Bureau Corp. in Tulsa, OK, Denver Technological Center in Littleton, CO, owned ABC Kiddie Shops in Oklahoma City and Tulsa, OK.  He also owned and operated the Sonic Drive In in Kingsville, TX then retired in McKinney, TX in 2002.

He is survived by his wife Wanda Hunter; daughter, Marcia Ramsey both of McKinney, TX; sons, Gregory Haywood Hunter and wife Darlene of Plano, TX and Christopher Hunter and wife Mari of Bryant, AR; grandchildren, Lance Ramsey and wife Leigh of Moore, OK, Garrett Hunter and Bryce Hunter both of Plano, TX, Allyson Hunter and Madelyn Hunter both of Bryant, AR; great grandchildren, Brookelyn and Bailey Ramsey both of Moore, OK; sister, Anita Terry and her husband Joel of Sand Springs, OK and a host of other loving family and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM, Tuesday, July 16, 2013 at the First Presbyterian Church, 2000 W. White Ave, McKinney, TX 75069 with Rev. John Blacklock officiating.

In lieu of flowers the family is accepting donations to the church that he loved so much, First Presbyterian Church of McKinney.
