George Rose Hughes, age 84, of Plano, Texas, passed away February 13, 2008, in Allen, Texas. George was born December 5, 1923 to Thomas B. and Helen (Burch) Hughes. He grew up in Hughes Springs, Texas. George married Mary Wygal on April 10, 1964 in Colbert, Oklahoma. He owned and operated G and R Barber Shop in McKinney, Texas and was also owner of Hughes Hydraulic Jack Repair. George was a disabled veteran who proudly served in the United States Air Force during World War II. He also loved playing forty-two and had a passion for music. He is survived by his wife, Mary; sons, Ronnie and Greg Hughes; daughter, Debby Harder; grandchildren, Misty Crayton, Ashley Tackett, Jennifer Harris, Deanna Bosbyshell, Mikki Murphy, and Gary Reynolds; eight great-grandchildren; brother, Elmer Hughes of McKinney, Texas; sister Helen Samples, also of McKinney. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter, Rosemary Madewell, 3 brothers, and 2 sisters. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 noon, Saturday, February 16, 2008, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Allen, Texas with Rev. Billy Harris, Rev. Bobby Bryan, and Rev. Darwin Morris officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at the IOOF Cemetery in Farmersville, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Friday evening beginning at 6:00 PM.
