Mr. George Edwards, age 88, Texas, passed away December 5, 2004, in Wichita Falls. He was born July 31, 1916, in Anna, Texas, to Jessie Darnell and Nancy Ella (Mooney) Edwards. He served in the U. S. Navy during World War II. He married Nellie Evelyn Rodgers in 1935 in Anna, and after her death married Audna Lee Cuff on July 17, 1950, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Mr. Edwards was a barber and of the Protestant faith. He is survived by his daughter, Wanda Pierce of Blue Ridge, Texas; sons, James Harlon Edwards of Burkburnett, Texas, and Jerrell Kenneth Edwards of Van Alstyne, Texas; 12 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; brothers, Fat Edwards of Cushing, Oklahoma, Shorty Edwards of Davidson, Oklahoma, Tommy Edwards of Arlington, Texas, and Buster Edwards of Richardson, Texas; sister, Imogene Gleghorn of Artesia, New Mexico. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nellie in 1946; his wife, Audna Lee in 1996; son, Harold Edwards in 2003; brother, Glen Edwards; 4 sisters, Mary Lou Edwards, Ann Oyler, Bea Rodgers, and Oline Sullivan. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, December 10, 2004, at Elm Grove Cemetery with Bro. Steve Pierce officiating. Visitation will be from 7:00 to 8:00 P.M., Thursday, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home.
