George Elwood Bentley

Mr. George Elwood Bentley, age 82, of Princeton, Texas passed away August 10, 2008. He was born on July 6, 1926, in Comanche, Texas to G.W. and Susie (Cunningham) Bentley. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served his country in Japan during World War II. George had a strong work ethic. He was a crane operator and was a member of International Union of Operating Engineers Local #178 for over 60 years. He was also a member of the VFW and the Masonic Lodge. George is survived by his wife, Franziska McGinty of Princeton; sons, Ronnie Bentley and wife, Dorothy of Saginaw and Randy Bentley and wife, Melissa of Frisco; grandchildren, Vanessa Branch and husband, Darren of Allen, Meredith Bentley and Madeline Bentley both of Frisco; brothers, John and wife, Frances and Don; sister, Estelle; and a host of other loving relatives and many friends. When his sons were young he enjoyed taking them to the lake to ski. He was a fisherman and avid gardener. He loved letting his granddaughters drive his golf cart and Gator around his place and took pride in the fact that he had contributed to their early drivers’ education. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Edna Mae Bentley in 1984; his parents and brother, Slim Bentley. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, August 13, 2008, in the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel with Dr. Jim Palmer officiating. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends for a visitation beginning at 6:00 p.m., Tuesday, at the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home.
