IN LOVING MEMORY

Geneva V. Cunningham

Apr 17 1940 - Jul 01 2012

Geneva V. Cunningham, age 72, was born in LuVern, Alabama, April 17, 1940, to Glasco O’Neal and Lois Streeter Richburg.  On Sunday, July 1, 2012, at her home in Dallas, Texas, she answered the call of her Lord and Savior to come to her heavenly home and rest.

Geneva was the proud mother of Shereice Cunningham of Dallas, Texas and Adnorian Judson Cunningham, III of Charlotte, North Carolina, both of whom survive with her former husband of 14 years, Adnorian Judson Cunningham, Jr. of Louisville, Kentucky.  She is also survived by grandchildren, Angelo Randell, Adnorian Judson Cunningham, IV (Snoopy) and Asine Ramone` Cunningham, all of Denver, Colorado; great-granddaughter, Aniyah Ahniece Cunningham of Denver, Colorado; sisters, Glenco Robinson, Bonnie Richburg, Gilden Richburg all of Louisville, Kentucky, Jurel Leigh of Frisco, Texas, Bernice Breckenridge of Plano, Texas; brother, Dorvis Richburg of Louisville, Kentucky and a host of other relatives.

Geneva was a lifetime member of King Solomon Baptist Church in Louisville, Kentucky.  She relocated to Dallas, Texas, in April, 2010, and found comfort in the fellowship of Heartline Ministries in June, 2012.  Her heart’s desire was to share some of her many skills and talents in the building of the Kingdom.  She enjoyed sewing, quilting, painting, home remodeling, carpentry, crocheting, all crafting and especially gardening as she loved being outdoors.

Geneva worked for the Philip Morris Tobacco Company in Louisville, Kentucky, from 1965 until her retirement in 1998.  Unwilling to sit at home to rest, she volunteered at church and helped in rearing her grandchildren.  She also worked as a greeter for Wal-Mart in New Albany, Indiana, where she received several Employee of the Month awards due to her kindness and willingness to assist customers.  She transferred her employment to Dallas in April, 2010, where she remained a loyal employee until her passing.  Geneva was affectionately called “Ole’ School” by her co-workers due to her maturity, knowledge and wisdom from the Old School.

Geneva was diagnosed with Stage 4 pancreatic cancer in August, 2011.  Geneva (Gen) prepared herself for the fight of her life through faith, hope, love and her trust in Jesus Christ.  She never complained during her ten month battle.  She would say, “What’s the use in complaining – it’s a useless waste of energy; the Lord’s will be done, I’ll be alright.”  During her fight, “I’ll be alright, I’m OK” became her motto.  She believed God for her healing even until the end.

A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 7, 2012 at Heartline Ministries, 9755 East RL Thornton, Dallas, Texas 75228.
