Dr. Generosa Gonzalez Guintu, age 60, of Plano, Texas passed away on December 1, 2004, in Dallas, Texas. She was born on April 25, 1944, in Manila, Philippines to Guillermo and Dionisia (Arriola) Gonzalez. She married Edgar Guintu on January 1, 1971 in Manila, Philippines. Dr. Guintu was a graduate of Far Eastern University Medical School, Manila, Philippines. She completed her psychiatry residency training at Fallsview Psychiatric Hospital in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio. She was head of psychiatry at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Bonham, Texas. She was the former Medical Director of LifePath Systems (formerly Collin County MHMR); staff psychiatrist at the Dallas county MHMR; member and past president of the North Texas Association of Philippine Physicians; member of the Dallas Area Women Psychiatrics. She was a member of the Prince of Peace Catholic Community in Plano. She is survived by her husband, Edgar Guintu of Plano, Texas; son, Ronald Guintu and wife, Diana of McKinney, Texas; daughter, Geraldine Guintu of Plano, Texas; grandson, Ethan Lucas Guintu of McKinney, Texas; brother, Raymond Gonzalez and wife, Generosa of San Francisco, California; sister, Mercedes Gonzalez of Manila, Philippines; nieces, Regina Gonzalez Mangoba and husband, Joseph and Rosemond Gonzalez both of San Francisco, California. Her parents preceded Dr. Guintu in death. A funeral mass will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, December 7, 2004, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church at 2700 W. Spring Creek Pkwy., Plano, with Fr. Duffy Gardner officiating. Visitation will be Sunday from 3:00 to 6:00 PM and a rosary service will be held Monday from 6:00 to 9:00 PM at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in Dr. Guintu’s name.
