Gene Alexander Crittenden

“Well done, thou good and faithful servant.” Gene Alexander Crittenden passed away on February 20, 2014. He was born April 10, 1919, in Winningkoff, Texas, to George W. Crittenden and Susie Elbert Campbell. He graduated McKinney High School in 1937 and attended Draughn’s Business College in Dallas. In 1938, Gene married the love of his life, Kathryn Ashley, to whom he was married 73 years until her death in 2012. Gene served in the U.S. Navy during WWII on the island of Guam. He worked for Texas Electric Railway in Dallas, and later worked 35 years for Rock Island Railroad. Ordained as a Baptist deacon, Gene faithfully served his Lord. He was a long-time member of First Baptist Church of Plano. Gene is survived by son, James (Barbara) Crittenden, daughter, Ruth Anne (Calvin) Donnell, five grandsons, Kent (Tonia) Crittenden, Curtis (Kendall) Crittenden, Brad Crittenden (Gillam Hall), Brian (Amy) Donnell and Jeff (Sissie) Donnell, nine great-grandchildren, four great-great grandchildren, a nephew and a niece. He was Uncle Gene to the Ashley family. He was preceded in death by sister, Pauline Crittenden and brother, Gilbert Ray Crittenden. The family wishes to extend gratitude for the care and love shown to Gene by the staff and residents of Emeritus of Farmers Branch Assisted Living. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, February 23, 2014 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas with Dr. Jeff Donnell and Rev. Sam Dennis officiating. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park. The family will receive friends during a visitation being held one hour prior to the service on Sunday.  Family and friends are invited to the funeral home at their convenience on Saturday to pay their respects and to sign the register book.
