Garland Franklin “Mouse” Smith, age 64, of Celeste, Texas, passed away March 4, 2008, in Celeste. Garland was born July 7, 1943, in Greenville, Texas, to William Hartwell and Vera Mae (White) Smith. He retired from the city of Greenville and was a member of the Celeste Church of Christ. He is survived by his daughters, Stephanie Loren and her husband, John of Quanah, Texas, Peggy Kitts and her husband, Christopher of Point, Texas; son, Jacob Smith of Greenville, Texas; sister, Donna Tingle of Celeste, Texas; brothers, Melvin Smith of Allen, Texas and Herman Smith of Maud, Texas; grandsons, John Wayne Loren of Quanah, Texas and Kevin Aiden Smith of McKinney, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Vera Mae Smith, daughter, Susan Marie Smith and brother, Marvin Darrell Smith. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM, Saturday, March 8, 2008 at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Leonard, Texas with Charles Scarborough officiating. Interment will follow at Celeste Cemetery. The family will receive friends during a visitation on Friday evening from 7:00-9:00 PM at the funeral home in Leonard.
