Gail R. Thomas, age 94, of Plano, Texas, passed away on November 6, 2015. He was born May 8, 1921 on a farm in Westphalia, Kansas to John Walter and Alma J. (Ackerman) Thomas. Gail grew up on that farm and graduated from Westphalia High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during World War II. In 1950 he graduated from the University of Tulsa and on September 30, 1950, married Barbara Jean McKay in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He worked in the Oil industry as a Land Man his entire career. He was employed by Sun Oil for over 36 years. Gail loved watching football, baseball, track, basketball and golf. His family remembers his love for music and square dancing.
He is survived by his son, Rob Thomas and wife Donna; daughter, Susan Ford and husband Richard; 6 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews and other loving family and friends. He is also remembered by a special friend, LaMoyne Bryant.
Gail is preceded in death by his parents John Walter and Alma Thomas; and his wife of 56 years, Barbara Thomas.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, November 12, 2015 at Christ Church Plano Anglican, 4550 Legacy Drive in Plano, Texas. Private interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation being held one hour prior to the service at the church.
