Frieda Koen Taylor, age 87, of Los Angeles, California, was called home June 15, 2012, in Frisco, Texas. Frieda was born October 9, 1924, in Memphis, Tennessee, to Ralph and Willette (McCray) Koen. She married Marvin Trent Taylor, II on September 3, 1953 in Mexico City, Mexico. Frieda grew up in Memphis where she graduated from high school and attended UCLA in Los Angeles. She worked for the State of California for seventeen years as a supervisor for the Disability Evaluation Department. Frieda retired in 1990. She was active in many organizations including serving as secretary of the Lion’s Club and president of the PTA. Frieda was also a member of the Las Novilles Social Club. She was of the Catholic faith.
She is survived by her daughters, Stephonia Taylor McLinn of Birmingham, Alabama, Karla Taylor Miller of McKinney, Texas, Karen Taylor Green of Houston, Texas. Frieda also had two stepchildren, daughter, Sherry Carr of Atlanta, Georgia and son, Marvin Taylor, III of Chicago, Illinois; nine grandchildren, Alana, Mychal, Kalynda, Danielle, Zan, II, Herbert, II, Adonis, Austin, and Ian; and five great-grandchildren Alex, Chancellor, Anaya, Alijah, and Michael.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
A memorial service will be held at 7:00 p.m., Thursday, June 21, 2012, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Allen, Texas.
