Mrs. Freida Graves Long, age 89, of McKinney, Texas passed away April 11, 2011. She was born on September 29, 1921, in Melissa, Texas to Fred and Velma Alice (Wallis) Graves. On September 12, 1942, she married Robert Kirk Long at Ft. Warren, Cheyenne, Wyoming. Bob and Freida were founding members of Midway Christian Church in Dallas, Texas, and through the years she attended Melissa Christian Church, First Christian Church in Amarillo, Texas and First Christian Church of Plano, Texas. She was very active in the Christian Women’s Fellowship and a member of the Seekers Sunday School Class in Plano. Mrs. Long is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Sharon Doyle of McKinney, Texas, Kay and Larry Ball also of McKinney, and Kathy Jo and Kevin Hall of Prosper, Texas; grandchildren, Scott DeWalt of Colorado Springs, Colorado, Robert DeWalt of Santa Fe, New Mexico, Melissa Reddick and husband, Jaret of Highland Village, Texas, Todd Dickerson and wife, SaLinda of Hickory Creek, Texas, Colter Hall of Highland Village, Texas and Kirk Hall of Prosper, Texas; great grandchildren, Perry DeWalt, Jack and Emma Reddick and Julia Dickerson; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Lightfoot of Navasota, Texas, Vera Long of Plano, Texas and Margie Graves of Ft. Belvoir, Virginia; and numerous other loving relatives and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband; and brothers, Jack and Bud Graves. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, April 14, 2011, in the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel with Rev. Mike McConachie and Rev. Linda Wright officiating. Interment will follow at Melissa Cemetery in Melissa, Texas. The family will receive friends for a visitation from 7:00-8:30 p.m., Wednesday, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home.
