Frederick A. Nolte

Mr. Frederick A. Nolte, age 93, of Plano, Texas passed away January 29, 2014, in Plano. Fred was born January 8, 1921 in Brooklyn, New York to Carl and Sophie Nolte. After graduation from Brooklyn Tech in 1939, Fred pursued his Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Michigan Tech and graduated in 1943. While at Michigan Tech Fred enrolled in the ROTC program and graduated with commission as a 2nd Lt. in the U.S. Army Engineering Corp. He serviced his country during World War II where he was stationed in Rheims (Paris) France, was promoted to 1st Lt. and commanded an engineering detachment until VE Day. Upon separation from the Army in 1946, Fred joined Long Island Lighting Company where he worked as an engineer in its gas distribution department for 36 years. On June 21, 1947, he married June Nolte in Brooklyn where they were married for over 60 years. Fred has been a member of the Masonic Lodge for 60 years and was an active member of the American Legion. As a volunteer in the Boy Scouts of America program he was a Cubmaster and Scoutmaster and earned the Silver Beaver Award in 1972 from Suffolk County Council, Long Island.

Fred is survived by his children, Bruce Nolte and wife, Josey of Bartlesville, OK and Paul Nolte and his wife, Diane of Plano, grandchildren Paul Jr. and his wife, Courtney of Frisco, David and his wife, Amanda of Denver, and Michael of Chicago, Jocelyn Nolte Miller and her husband, Ken of Phoenix, and Reid and his wife, Meg of Tampa, and five great-grandchildren, Liam, Pierce, Olivia, Lincoln, and Owen.

He was preceded in death by his wife, June Nolte; brother, Carl Nolte; parents, Carl and Sophie Nolte.

A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. at the Custer Road United Methodist Church, 6601 Custer Rd, Plano, TX 75023, on Saturday, February 1, 2014.
