Fred Harvey Estep

Fred Harvey Estep, age 93, of McKinney, Texas, passed away August 4, 2012, in McKinney. Fred was born June 21, 1919, in Anna, Texas, to H. S. Estep and Lizzie Ford Estep. He entered the Army in November of 1940 and was stationed at Fort Bliss with the Cavalry for 30 months before going to Australia. He married Rosa Lee Blackwell on September 30, 1942, in Celina, Texas. After returning home in December of 1945, he went to Commercial Art School in Dallas for a year at which time he opened his sign shop, Ace High Signs, in McKinney and operated it until he retired in 1981. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in McKinney.

He is survived by his daughter, Nevelin Scalf and husband, Floyd of McKinney, Texas; sons, Ted Estep and wife, Claire of Longview, Texas and Dwight Estep and wife, Robin O’Brien of Dallas, Texas; grandchildren, Tim Scalf and wife, JoAnne, Wendie Scalf, Vanessa Larson and husband, Ken, Jessica Shaw and husband, David, and Christopher Bridwell; great-grandchildren, Sienna Scalf, Stone Scalf, and Caroline Larson; brother, Aubrey “Bud” Estep of Garland, Texas; four sisters, Audrey Stembridge of Gilmer, Texas, Oleta Self of Dumas, Texas, Una Bell Van Hoozer of Weston, Texas, and Hester Barns of Kansas.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 64 years, Rosa Lee, his parents, four brothers, and one sister.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 11, 2012, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Allen, Texas. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen. Family and friends are invited to the funeral home at their convenience on Friday to pay their respects and to sign the register book. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
