Frank I. Pinas was born October 15, 1923 in Chicago, Illinois to Ignatius and Angeline Pinas. He passed away at home Thursday, June 9, 2011 at 4:30 PM. Preceding him in death were sisters, Laura Pinas, Mary Jarzemski (Peter), Stella Pavelek (Joe), Frances Rompala (Frank), Helen Rompala (Bruno); and brothers, Stanley and Ted. He is survived by wife Frances (Marshall); sons, Dr. Gerald Pinas of Irvine, California, and Robert Pinas of Allen, Texas; sister-in-law, Grace Yokopenic; and many dear friends, cousins, nieces and nephews. He attended Spry, St. Casimer, and Harrison High in Chicago. After graduation he left for the Army Air Force in World War II. He was a Sergeant and worked on B-24s. When he was in Walla Walla, Washington he met and married Frances M. Marshall in 1944. They had two sons. Frank and his family returned to Chicago and he resumed working at Western Electric until he retired. He loved to sing, dance, and travel. He and Fran traveled together to Poland and to national parks and mountains across the United States. He belonged to Hawthorne Club, St. Blasé Church, LaGrange YMCA, and Summit American Legion and coached little league. He enjoyed participating in all sports. Frank was a former resident of Justice, Illinois, Indian Head Park, Illinois and Irvine, California for many years. He retired in Texas because of health reasons to be near his son, Robert. Frank was always a pleasant and good, prayerful Christian man. A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, June 17, 2011, at 2:00 PM, at St. Jude Catholic Church, in Allen, Texas. Family and friends are invited to the funeral home at their convenience on Thursday to pay their respects and to sign the register book. A rosary service will begin at 7:00 p.m. Thursday evening, with a visitation following from 7:30 until 8:30 PM., at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home.
