Frank Farkash

Frank Farkash, age 87, of Allen, Texas, passed away in the presence of his loving wife of 63 years, Frances, on February 15, 2009. Frank was born on February 20, 1921, in Baker-Whitely, Pennsylvania to Istvan (Steven) and Suzanna (Horvath) Farkash. He served proudly and was discharged as a First Lieutenant, veteran of World War II in the United States Marine Corp from January 29, 1940, to January 19, 1946. On November 25, 1945, Frank married Frances Popek at St. Joseph's RC Church in Hackensack, New Jersey. Frank graduated in 1949 from Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken New Jersey, with a Mechanical Engineering Degree. Frank worked for a number of manufacturing companies before joining Diamond Shamrock in 1958. He retired from Diamond Shamrock in 1983, and moved to Lewisville, Texas, in 1985. Frank is a member of Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church, Allen, Texas. Frank is survived by his wife, Frances Farkash, of Allen, Texas; children Susan Garratt and husband, John, of Watkins, Colorado; Roger Farkash and wife, Dorcie, of Duncanville, Texas; Roberta Howes and husband, Robert, of Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania; and Ellen Terranella and husband, Michael, of Allen, Texas; grandchildren, James Garratt and wife, Kristin of Oliver Springs, Tennessee; Lorri Ogden, PhD, and husband, John, of Denver, Colorado; Frank Farkash of Austin, Texas; Lindsay Farkash of Houston, Texas; Leslie Howes and Courtney Howes of Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania; Nicole Terranella and Jason Terranella of Allen, Texas; great-grandchildren, Taimah Garratt, Ian Garratt, Brant Garratt, Donovan Garratt, Cooper Ogden; and his 'big brother,' Michael Farkash of Denver, Colorado, as well as many nieces and nephews across the country. Frank was preceded in death by his parents, Istvan (Steven) and Suzanna Farkash; sisters, Elizabeth (Lizzie) and Rose; and brothers, Istvan, Louis, Gabe, and John. A memorial service and celebration of Frank's life will be held on what would have been his 88th birthday, Friday morning, February 20, 2009, at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church, 1914 Ridgeview Drive, Allen, Texas; Father John Bell presiding. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Our Lady of Angels Catholic Church Building Trust Fund in memory of Frank Farkash.
