Frances Senkowski Hulka, age 98, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and long-time resident of Muskegon, Michigan, passed away Sunday, January 8, 2012, in Denton, Texas. She was born November 15, 1913, in Muskegon, Michigan, the oldest of five children born to Ignacy and Boleslawa (Breitfus) Senkowski. On July 24, 1937, Frances married Milo Hulka of Muskegon, Michigan. Together they celebrated 52 years together until Milo’s death in 1989. Frances, together with her husband Milo and Milo’s brother, Charles, established and operated Hulka’s Thriftway Market on Laketon Avenue for many years. Around 1980, Milo and Frances retired and moved to Dallas, Texas, to be near family. She enjoyed her home and family, reading, and sewing. Frances was especially enthusiastic about the Dallas Cowboys and Dallas Mavericks. In 2010, Frances moved to Denton, Texas. The family wishes to thank the staff of Autumn Leaves of Denton and Grace Hospice for their loving care of Frances over the last year. Frances is survived by her daughter Janice Herbst and husband Darell of Cross Roads, Texas; grandsons Marc Herbst of Denton, Texas, Erik Herbst and wife Jill also of Denton, Texas; granddaughter Meredith Hulka of Las Vegas, Nevada; great grandchildren Gretchen and Ryan Herbst of Denton, Texas; and god-daughter Marilyn Felinski of Muskegon, Michigan; and many other loving relatives. Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Milo; son Gerald; three sisters, Elizabeth Senkowski, Florence Domeracki, and Hattie Lappo; and brother Frank Senkowski. A worship service in celebration of Frances’ life will be held at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home on North Central Expressway at Ridgeview Drive in Allen, Texas, at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, January 13, 2012, with the Reverend Richard Hagar officiating. Interment is to immediately follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen.
