Fern E. Roberson of Fairview, Texas passed away January 25, 2014 at the age of 88. She was born August 29, 1925 to Farris Whited and Lillie Mae (Kendrick) Whited in Ash Flat, AR. Fern accepted Christ at age eleven and was baptized at age seventeen in Pawhuska, OK. She attended Bartlesville Business College. She and Gene Roberson were married on May 5, 1946, in Pawhuska. Fern worked for Amoco Corporation in Tulsa, OK from 1951-1987, as a secretary. She was a member of Brookside Baptist Church, where she taught third grade, Gracemont Baptist Church and Woodland Acres Baptist Church, all in Tulsa, where she served in various capacities.
Fern is survived by her brothers, Prentiss Whited of Pratt, KS, Farris Whited, Jr. & (Jean), of Van Buren, AR, Frank Whited of Pawhuska, OK, Jerrel Whited & (Lee), of Walla Walla, WA, sister, Jeanie Whited Curtis & (Don), of Fairview, TX, also survived by sister in laws, (Mary Whited), of Hominy, OK, & (Lydia Whited), of Prue, OK, as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Gene Roberson (2009); brothers, Clifford Whited of Pawhuska, OK, Kenneth Whited of Hominy, OK and Leon Whited of Wellington, KS.
A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, February 1, 2014 at McCartney-Johnson Funeral Home, 223 East 6th Street, Pawhuska, OK, 74056. Interment is to follow at Pawhuska Cemetery in Pawhuska, OK. The family will receive friends during a visitation Friday evening from 4:00 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Moore Funeral Home, 9350 East 51st Street, Tulsa, OK, 74145.
