IN LOVING MEMORY

Fern Quay Henry

Apr 01 1930 - Nov 13 2014

April 1, 1930 - November 13, 2014.  Fern Quay (Conway) Henry passed away Thursday at the age of 84.  She is survived by her sister, Bea Seale (Allen), son, Randy Henry (Kelly), daughter Pamela Hanning, grandchildren Jeffrey Hanning (Melissa) and Laurie Walker (Jesse) and 4 great-grandchildren, Hannah Walker, Emma Hanning, William Hanning and Kian Walker and nieces and nephews.

Fern is pre-deceased by her beloved husband Lawrence Henry who died in 1988 and her parents Charley and Myrtle Conway and sister Maynon Viles.

Fern was born in Hastings, Oklahoma and grew up in Hull, Texas until she married in 1948.  The young couple then joined a Sun Oil geophysical crew and spent the next 8 years living and moving all over the western US and Canada.  In 1956, they settled in Beaumont Texas where she raised her two children and was a seamstress.

In the 1970’s, the Henry’s moved to north Texas and settled in McKinney where they restored a historic home.  Fern was a talented artist and teacher and taught painting to hundreds of people in the McKinney area for nearly 40 years.  Her annual Red Wagon Bazaar held the first weekend in December drew huge crowds to buy her unique designs. She had also mastered the art of spinning, rug hooking, and restoring antiques.

A funeral service will be held Monday, November 17, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Allen, Texas. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation Sunday afternoon from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation in Fern’s name to the Legacy Humane Society, PO Box 2733, McKinney, TX  75070 or online at www.legacyhumanesociety.org/donate/
