F. Kent Henrichs

F. Kent Henrichs passed away on September 6, 2015 at the age of 72.   He was born on July 2, 1943 to Walter and Mildred (Kubias) Henrichs in Smith Center, KS.  Kent attended school in Smith Center from kindergarten through high school, graduating in 1961.  While in school, he was a member of both the football and track teams, but he excelled in music playing both the baritone and trombone in the band and in various ensembles.  Kent was also a member of the National Honor Society.  He attended the University of Kansas graduating with a BS in mechanical engineering in 1965 and a MS in 1966. The topic of his master's thesis was the effect of an electrical charge on a falling drop of water - the principal on which a jet ink printer operates.  At KU Kent was a member of Beta Theta Pi where he formed many lifelong friendships.  It was at KU where he met and fell in love with Betty Henrie.  They were married in December 1965.  Upon graduation from KU, Kent and Betty moved to Richardson, TX where Kent was employed as an engineer at Texas Instruments and later Raytheon, retiring in 2004. 

He is survived by his daughter Amanda James of Seattle, WA; grandchildren Kayla James and Devin James who is expecting his first child; brother Dr. Dean Henrichs and his wife Barbara of Bermuda Run, NC. 

Kent was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Mildred Henrichs and his loving wife Betty.

At Kent's request there will be a private service for the family.
