Etta Louise Kissinger Nixon

Etta Louise Kissinger Nixon of McKinney, Texas, passed away Friday, April 13, 2012, at the age of 79.

She was born May 21, 1932, in the Walnut Grove community to Lawrence A. Kissinger and Etta Gertrude (Baccus) Kissinger.  She married Charles Drury Nixon on January 23, 1953, in the Chambersville United Methodist Church.

Raised in the Rheas’s Mill community, she graduated from McKinney High School in 1949, worked as a secretary for the Texas Textile Mill for fourteen years and then as a licensed cosmetologist at Juanita’s Beauty Salon.  In 1964, she and Charles went into the coin-op laundry business and presently own and operate Nixon’s Cleaning Center and Sno White Laundry in McKinney.

She was a member of the Coin Laundry Association, the Ladies’ Auxiliary, the McKinney Chapter 518 Order of the Eastern Star and the Chambersville United Methodist Church.

She is survived by her husband, Charles; daughters, Teresa Roeder and husband Bob of McKinney and Leasa Carroll of McKinney; son, Rodney Nixon of Chambersville; grandchildren, Chad Nixon, Loren Roeder, Rebecca Roeder, Kasey Carroll and Natalie Carroll; great-grandchildren, Dylan Nixon, Rhyce Nixon and Tristan Carroll; and brother, Leo Kissinger of Hemphill, Texas.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Talmage and Hubert Kissinger; and sister, Jean Flynn.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., on Monday, April 16, 2012, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Allen, Texas.  Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park.   The family will receive friends during a visitation on Sunday evening, from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m., at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow, Allen, Texas.
