Esther Emilie (Scheu) Hardy, age 91 of Little Elm, Texas passed away on March 19, 2013 in Frisco, Texas. She was born on November 26, 1921 in Bynum, Texas to Adela (Manthey) and Ewald Carl Scheu. On November 16, 1945, Esther married Hiram Frank Hardy, Jr. in Waco, Texas.

Esther and her husband Frank raised their family around the world as they were transferred by Frank’s U.S. Government job. They spent seven years in Japan, where Esther learned Japanese and enjoyed working as an English teacher. The family spent another seven years in Honolulu, where Esther fulfilled her lifelong passion for gardening. Esther was also a prolific writer and poet, earning several awards for stories and poetry throughout her life.

Esther is survived by her three children, Alan (wife - Janie), Steven (wife – Judy), and Cathy (husband - James), four grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren and her sister Lillian Koller. Esther is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Frank Hardy, parents, Adela and Ewald Scheu, two brothers, and one sister.

A Funeral Service will be held at Button Memorial United Methodist Church in Little Elm on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at 2:30 PM with Pastor John Gowling and Pastor Denise Peckham officiating. Interment will follow at Little Elm Cemetery. A Visitation will be held at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Frisco on Friday, March 22, 2013 from 6:30 PM to 8:30 PM.
