Essie May McConnell, age 94, of Plano, Texas, passed away July 28, 2014, in Carrollton, Texas. Essie was born August 8, 1919, in Emory, Texas, to Austin J. and Bessie (Terry) Mitchell. She married Marcel McConnell on February 15, 1974, in Plano, Texas. He preceded her in death in 1995. Essie was a member of First Assembly of God in Plano.
She is survived by her sister, Joye Parker and husband, Jim of Plano, Texas; brother, Joe Mitchell and wife, Pat of Ft. Worth, Texas; and numerous other loving family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Bob Widdle, brothers, Dwight Mitchell, Bill Mitchell, Jack Mitchell and Russell Mitchell, and sisters, Flossie Cobb, Barbara Hebdon, Janiece Mitchell, and Irene Falmar.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Thursday, July 31, 2014, at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen, Texas. The family will receive friends during a visitation one hour prior to the service on Thursday at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home in Allen.
