Erik Scott White-Stevens, age 44, of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away Friday, July 17, 2015. Erik was born August 4, 1970, in Houston, Texas, to Derek and Shirley (Reed) White-Stevens.

He grew up in South Australia and graduated from Marryatville High School in Adelaide at the age of fourteen. He was third in a class of 287 students. Erik attended the University of Adelaide in Australia and eventually graduated from the University of Louisville with a Bachelor of Arts degree in English. He continued to work on his Master’s degree in English with the long term objective of entering the legal profession.

Erik worked as a paralegal for a number of law firms in Louisville, Austin, Texas, and north Texas. His ability to quickly and accurately write reports and compose legal briefs was deemed by many, at both University and in the legal profession, to be no less than “spectacular”.

Erik was a brilliant educator and motivator helping hundreds, if not thousands, of people achieve their GED’s in Louisville, Austin, and north Texas. Numerous people have said that he was the best teacher they ever had.

Erik was a talented singer and actor. He performed with Houston’s “Theater Under The Stars” and in several musicals prior to moving to Australia at the age of ten. In Adelaide, South Australia, he performed with the Adelaide Opera Company in numerous musicals including The Sound of Music with Julie Anthony. He was head chorister for a number of years at the Epiphany Episcopal Church in Crafers, South Australia.

He is survived by his parents, Derek and Shirley White-Stevens of Fairview, Texas; brothers, Robert Todd White-Stevens of Adelaide, South Australia and Chad Allyn White-Stevens and wife, Wendy of Crossroads, Texas; nieces, Jasmine White-Stevens and Jade and Cara White-Stevens; nephew, Bradley White-Stevens; and numerous other loving family and friends.

A memorial service was held for Erik at 5:00 p.m., Sunday, July 26, 2015, at Trinity United Methodist Church in New Albany, Indiana.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, August 1, 2015, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Allen, Texas. Interment will follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park in Allen. The family will receive friends during a visitation from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m., Friday evening, July 31st at the funeral home.
