Ephriam (Ed) William Sharp

Mr. Ephriam W. (Ed) Sharp of McKinney, Texas formerly Farmersville passed away Friday September 16, 2011 at Centennial Medical Center in Frisco, Texas after a brief illness.

He was born August 29, 1926 in Clovis, New Mexico the son of Cornelius O. and Ruby Lee Whinrey Sharp.

"Ed" as known by all his friends is a retired Postmaster of Farmersville, Texas having served 30 years in the postal service, 18 years in the Dallas office and 12 years in Farmersville.  While Postmaster in Farmersville he was very active in Civic Organizations.  He served as secretary and president of the Rotary Club and secretary and President of the Chamber of Commerce.  Whille president of the Chamber of Commerce he initiated the purchase and remodeling of a church builing for a Community Center and Library. This was then used by all the Civic Organizations as a meeting place  and the Library has grown beyond his dreams. He also helped originate the "Old Time Saturday" which is still an annual event for raising funds for civic organizations.  Ed was a member of the Farmersville Masonic Lodge and the McKinney Country Club. 

He is survived by his wife Peggy White Sharp of McKinney, Texas his children; Charlene Harris and husband Ricky of Copeville, Texas, Cherie Harland and husband Sam of Farmersville, Texass, Kellene Powell and husband Frank of Copeville, Texas, Kenneth Sharp and wife Barbara of Farmersville, Texas and Melissa Heisterberg and husband Robert of Temple, Texas.  He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents and 3 siblings; Charles Leroy Sharp, Vida Melissa Sharp and Hiram Cornelius Sharp.
