Elvie Charlotte "Tiny" Lackey

Elvie Charlotte Lackey, known as “Tiny” to her family and friends went home to be with her Lord and Savior on June 12, 2008 after a brief battle with cancer. Tiny was born on October 24, 1926, to Mae and Johnny Haak in Marlin, Texas. Tiny was raised in a Christian home on a farm and graduated from Marlin High School. She married E.C. Lackey on her birthday in 1947, in Lorenzo, Texas. They moved to Lovington, New Mexico in 1951 and then to Tatum, New Mexico in 1956 where they raised four children. The family was active in church and community activities. Tiny moved to McKinney, Texas in 2005. She was an accomplished seamstress and took a great deal of pleasure in sharing her crafts and creations. She is survived by her children, Carol and husband, Thom Cashman of Dallas, Texas, Weldon Lackey and wife, Pam of Lovington, New Mexico, Dwain Lackey and wife, Peggy of Hobbs, New Mexico and Linda and husband, Jerry Don Cook of Trenton, Texas; seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Tiny was preceded in death by her husband, who also died of cancer in 1999. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 14, 2008, in the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel with Rev. Steve Holland officiating. Family and friends are invited to the funeral home at their convenience on Friday to pay their respects and to sign the register book. Following the service on Saturday, a reception will be held at the Grand Reserve, 150 Enterprise Drive in McKinney. A graveside service will be held Monday in New Mexico. In lieu of flowers, the family request that memorials be made to the Community North Baptist Church, 4100 W. Eldorado Pkwy, Suite 100-421, McKinney, 75070 or the charity of your choice.
