Elsie Evelyn Gambrell Jones

Elsie Jones, long time Dallas resident passed away at the age of 95 on April 9, 2007. Born in 1912 in Collin County, she attended Princeton High School where she was a member of the women’s basketball team. She moved to Dallas after high school; there she met and later married Clyde Jones in 1937. Clyde Jones passed away in 1996. Two sons, Ron Jones and wife, Betty, recently of Bountiful, Utah and Tom Jones of Mesquite, Texas, survive her. She is also survived by four grand children: Shannon Jones (Husband, David) of Plano; John Jones (wife, Leslie), Rich Jones (wife, Kelly), and Chad Jones all of Garland. She is survived by nine great grand children. A good and close friend was Carol Cloud of Pottsboro, Texas. She was a member of Hampton Place Baptist Church for many years before she and her husband moved to Tyler after his retirement from Mobil Oil. In Tyler they were members of Green Acres Baptist Church. The Joneses moved to McKinney in the early 1990s. She was an accomplished self-taught organist and established organ ministries at local nursing homes in both Tyler and McKinney. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of McKinney. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 11, 2007, in the First Baptist Church of McKinney Chapel with Rev. Randy Morlan officiating. Interment will follow at Elm Grove Cemetery, Westminster, Texas. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m., Tuesday at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home.
