Ellen Tessa Gleeson, age 91, of Allen, Texas, passed away October 2, 2011, in McKinney, Texas. Ellen was born June 30, 1920, in Guthrie Center, Iowa, to Emil and Tessa Gehrke. Ellen married Joseph Dennis Gleeson on February 5, 1942, in Urbana, Illinois. She was known as “The Tatting Lady”. Ellen was a graduate of Mercy Hospital School of Nursing in Des Moines, Iowa. Her late husband, Joseph, was in the Air Force and they lived all over the world. She loved crafts, playing cards, and chocolate. Ellen and Joseph also loved to travel in their recreational vehicle. Ellen lived in Day Springs Assisted Living, Plano, Texas and Provident Living Center, McKinney, Texas. She is survived by her children, Evelyn Raecke and husband, William of Grand Prairie, Texas, Dennis Gleeson and wife, Nancy of Allen, Texas and Douglas Gleeson and wife, Faye of Franklin, Tennessee; sisters, Irene Mussleman of Des Moines, Iowa, and Alma Hoepker and husband Al of Creston, Iowa; brother, Loren Gehrke of Clarksdale, Missouri; grandchildren, Scott Raecke and wife, Theresa of Franklin, Pennsylvania, Heather Gleeson of Sherman, Texas, Jeffrey Gleeson and wife, Lisa of Pasadena, Maryland, Matthew Gleeson and wife, Andie of San Francisco, California, Cameron Gleeson of Baltimore, Maryland, and Joshua Gleeson of Mobile, Alabama; great-grandchildren, Makayla Gleeson of Pasadena, Maryland, Falco Gleeson of San Francisco, California, Vivian Gleeson of Pasadena, Maryland, Kathleen Raecke of Franklin, Pennsylvania, and Murdock Gleeson of San Francisco, California; and numerous other loving family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Gleeson, her brothers, Bernard Gehrke, Dean Gehrke, and Lynn Gehrke, and her sister, Mabel Lander. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 a.m., Thursday, October 6, 2011, at St. Jude’s Catholic Church in Allen, Texas.
