Elizabeth Pearl Reaves

Mrs. Elizabeth Biggers Reaves, age 89 passed away peacefully in Plano, Texas on Sunday July 3, 2005. Prior to moving to Texas, she resided in Greensboro and High Point, North Carolina. She was born on April 2, 1916 in Plantersville, Mississippi to Elza Glenn and Anna (Stovall) Biggers. She graduated from Tupelo High School and attended Blue Mountain Baptist College, where she met her husband, Harold Calvin Reaves. They were married 56 years and moved to High Point in 1964. She was a member of First Baptist Church of High Point, and was it’s first Volunteer of the Year. She held various offices in her Sunday School Class and served on numerous committees. She was a member of the Radient Club as well as the Women’s Club of High Pont. She is survived by her son, Harold (Hal) Calvin Reaves, Jr. and wife, Linda Chambers Reaves of Greensboro, North Carolina; daughter, Ann Reaves Matthews and husband, Kenneth Heidt Matthews, Jr. of Plano, Texas; grandchildren, Kenneth (Ken) Heidt Matthews, III of Duncan, Oklahoma, Krista Ann Matthews of Dallas, Texas, and Jennifer Lee (Jenni) Reaves of West Chester, Pennsylvania; and cousin, Elizabeth Kelly Langa of Memphis, Tennessee. Mrs. Reaves was preceded in death by her husband; brother, Dallas Stovall Biggers; and infant son, Allen Glenn Reaves. Mrs. Reaves’ family will be attending the 11:00 AM worship service at First Baptist Church of High Point, NC on Friday, July 10, 2005. Following the worship service her family will receive friends and guest in the Gathering Area at the church. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM Sunday, July 10, 205 at Floral Garden Park Cemetery in High Point. In lieu of flowers, memorials are requested in her name to the First Baptist Church, 405 N. Main Street, High Point, North Carolina, 27260 or to VistaCare Hospice, 7557 Rambler Road, Suite 440, Dallas, Texas 75231.
