Elizabeth Ann Jarvis

Elizabeth Ann Jarvis, age 80, of Plano, went to be with her Lord on February 15, 2005, after a long illness. She loved life, and will be remembered for her sparkling laugh, intelligence and constant love and devotion to her Lord, her family, her friends, and her community. Ann never knew a stranger and loved great conversation. She was a lifelong United Methodist Church member, and had been active in Custer Road United Methodist Church in Plano and previously First United Methodist of Garland; Memorial Drive United Methodist Church, in Houston, and Ravenswood United Methodist Church in Chicago. She was active in Methodist women’s groups. She was a graduate of North Park Academy in Chicago and Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. Ann survived breast cancer in 1992, and passionately poured herself into breast cancer support group’s work. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, James D. Jarvis of Plano; daughter and son-in-law, Rev. Don and Amy Smith of McKinney, Texas; son, James l. Jarvis of Georgetown, Texas; granddaughter, Emily Smith, a student at Hendrix College in Conway, Arkansas; grandson, Andrew Smith a student at McKinney High School; aunt, Mary Melberg of Plano; brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Janet English of Middleton, Wisconsin. She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Hazen and Bess English of Chicago, Illinois. A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, March 12, 2005 at Custer Road United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the Susan G. Komen Foundation for breast cancer research.
