Elizabeth Ann Gilday

Liz Gilday, age 50, of Dallas, Texas, passed at her home. She was born December 31, 1959 in Columbus, Ohio to Patrick and Mary (Kviatkofsky) Gilday. She was a 1977 graduate of Plano Senior High School and attended Texas Tech University and University of Texas at Dallas graduating magna cum laude earning a B.A. in English. In 1983, Liz earned a Juris Doctorate from Texas Tech Law School. At the time of her death she was licensed in Texas and Louisiana. While in Dallas Liz was employed as an attorney by Logan & Hoge, Stigall & Maxfield and Payne & Vendig. She spent the majority of her career as Assistant Vice President and Litigation Counsel for The Republic Group. She was a former member of the North Texas Association of Insurance Counsel and was a former board member of the Council of the Insurance Law Section of the State Bar of Texas. In addition to her interest in the law, Liz had a passion for all animals, especially her cats. She enjoyed cultivating roses and was an accomplished cook. She loved working in her garden, making stained glass art and spoiling her nephews. She enjoyed theater, music and art and she had an appreciation for the written word. Liz is preceded in death by her sister, Kathy Gilday Sheils and her parents. Liz is survived by her sister, Jennifer Gilday Houghtlin and her husband, Rob; nephews, Andrew and Mitchell of Frisco, Texas. She will be remembered by numerous loving relatives and friends. A Remembrance Gathering will be held Monday, May 3, 2010 at 2:00 PM at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel in Frisco, Texas. In lieu of flowers her family and friends request that you make a donation in her name to the Dallas SPCA.
