Elizabeth passed away January 13, 2009, in Dallas, Texas, and would have been 100 on her birthday. She was born January 27, 1909, to Leona and J. Lee Tarpley in the community of Taylorville, Texas and lived her long life in Leonard, Harlingen, and Dallas, Texas. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Eddie Foster; sisters Frances (Sunshine) Tarpley Taylor, Sudie Taylor Clark; and brother Truett Tarpley. She is survived by her son, Larry White and wife Carole, of Dallas Texas; grandson Jeffrey White and wife Laurie of Piedmont, California; grandson Christopher White of Dallas, Texas; great-grandchildren Sam and Halle White of Piedmont, California. She is also survived by several nieces & nephews. She received an undergraduate degree from Hardin Simmons University at Abilene, Texas and a graduate degree from Texas A&M University Commerce at Commerce, Texas. She was a career teacher in the Texas public school system and retired in 1977 from the University of Texas Brownsville at Brownsville, Texas, where she served 16 years as Chairman of the Department of English. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma Honor Society, Order of the Eastern Star, American Legion Auxiliary, and National Retired Teachers Association. Interment and graveside service will be at 2:00 p.m. Friday January 16th at the Grove Hill Cemetery, north of Leonard, Texas. Visitation will be from 1:00 until 1:45 p.m. Friday January 16th at the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Chapel at Leonard. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Susan G.
