Elizabeth (Beth) Downes Hrenak, age 51, of McKinney, Texas, passed away July 4, 2014. She was born September 18, 1962, in Hartford, Connecticut, to Edmund William and Mary (Moore) Downes. On May 25, 1997, Beth married Vince Hrenak in Washington, D.C. She worked for United Healthcare as a Senior Systems Developer for 23 years. Beth was a member of St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Church in McKinney, Texas, where she participated in both the St. Vincent de Paul and Hospitality Ministries. She was actively involved in The Boy Scouts of America and mentored numerous young men towards achieving the Eagle Scout. Beth also played a huge role in her daughters involvement in The Girl Scouts of America.
She is survived by husband, Vincent Hrenak of McKinney, Texas; daughter, Ashley Hrenak also of McKinney; sons, Brian Hrenak of Reston, Virginia and William Downes of Phoenix, Arizona; mother, Mary M. Downes of Myrtle Beach, South Carolina; sister, Mimi Downes and husband Granger Tripp of San Francisco, California; brother, Donald Downes and wife Donna of New Britain, Connecticut; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of other loving family and friends.
Beth is preceded in death by her father, Edmund William Downes.
A celebration of life will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 8, 2014 at St. Gabriel the Archangel Catholic Church, 110 St. Gabriel Way, McKinney, Texas. All are invited to join the family for a lunch reception immediately following Mass in the St. Gabriel Community Center. The family will receive friends during a visitation beginning at 6:30 p.m., with a rosary at 7:00 p.m., on Monday evening at the church.
