IN LOVING MEMORY

Edwin Lee Jeffries

Nov 15 1938 - Aug 25 2012

Edwin Lee Jeffries, age 73, of Plano, Texas passed away peacefully on August 25, 2012. He was born November 15, 1938 in Oklahoma City, Okla., to Ernest Jeffries and Bernice (McBee) Jeffries. After proudly serving in the United States Marines Corps, he went on to graduate from Oklahoma State University and earn a master's degree in Geology from The University of Oklahoma. Following his graduation in August 1964, he married the love of his life Mary Joan Perkins. After starting their family in Oklahoma they eventually settled in Plano, Texas, where he developed many lifelong friendships.

His profession as a petroleum geologist allowed him to explore the world, yet he was especially fascinated with the natural wonders of the southwestern United States, and Ed was also an avid historian.

He was a proud supporter and coach of all of his children's extracurricular activities, particularly the Plano YMCA swim team. Ed also was an active member of the Quarterback Club at Plano Senior High and was a founding member of the Plano Wildcat football's "The Committee". He remained a passionate football fan, following the Plano Wildcats and the Dallas Cowboys. In his later years he enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his sons Craig Jeffries and wife Sharyl of Austin, Texas; Stephen Jeffries and wife Mary Kate of Dallas; his daughter Sharon Brown and husband Jeff of Peoria, Arizona; his grandchildren, Ryan, Connor and Makenna; and his brother Richard Jeffries and wife Kathy of Oklahoma City, Okla. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest and Bernice Jeffries, and his wife, Mary Joan Jeffries.

The Jeffries family would like to thank the staff at LifeCare Center of Plano for their dedicated care and service for Ed over many years. A memorial service will be held at 4:00 p.m., Thursday, August 30, in the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel, Allen, Texas. Immediately following the memorial service, friends and family are invited to a reception from 6-8 p.m. at Tino’s Mexican Restaurant in Plano at Collin Creek Mall at 811 N. Central Expressway.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the National Park Foundation, 1201 Eye Street NW, Suite 550B, Washington, D.C. 20005, www.nationalparks.org
