Edward Oliver "Ed" Smith

Edward Oliver “Ed” Smith, age 86, of Parker, Texas passed away May 4, 2008 in Allen, Texas. He was born April 7, 1922 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to James Foster and Floice (Oliver) Smith. On September 30, 1945 he married Elizabeth Stewart in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Ed graduated from the University of Oklahoma with a bachelor degree in Finance. He was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. Ed proudly served in the United States Army Air Corps. and was a veteran of World War II. After the military Ed worked as a Landman for Sinclair/Arco for 33 years. He retired as Landmanager in Tyler in 1984. Ed was a member of the Dallas Association of Petroleum Landmen in Tulsa, Oklahoma City, Tyler and Midland. He was also a member of AAPL. He is survived by his daughter, Sydney Covey and husband, Bruce of Parker; grandchildren, Lindsay Goethals and husband, Ray of Richardson, Megan Eubank of Dallas; sister, Dorothy Meng of Princeton and numerous other loving relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Elizabeth; son, Stewart Michael Smith; brothers, Foster and Joseph Smith.
