Mr. Edward John Schmalzried, Jr. age 79, of Plano, Texas passed away October 6, 2009. He was born on September 3, 1930, in East St. Louis, Illinois to Edward John and Lillian (Wolfbrandt) Schmalzried. On September 19, 1953, he married Norma Mae Smith in Lubbock, Texas. Mr. Schmalzried proudly served his country in the United States Air Force as a pilot. He earned a business adminstration degree from Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri. He is survived by his wife, Norma Schmalzried; sons, Edward J. Schmalzried, III and wife, Toni L. and Richard W. Schmalzried and wife, Cristy; daughter, Susan Crum and husband, Jeffrey. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Thomas Clayton Wangelin, III, Michael E. Little, Jr., Miles R. Harris, and Matthew E. Schmalzried; and other family and friends. Mr. Schmalzried was preceded in death by his father Edward, Sr. and mother Lillian; brother, Ernest Schmalzried; and sister, Ellen Jane Piel. Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m., Saturday, October 10, 2009, in the Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel. The family will receive friends for a visitation from 6:00-7:30 p.m., Friday at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday at the Dallas-Ft. Worth National Cemetery.
