IN LOVING MEMORY

Edward J. Lustberg

Feb 14 1944 - Jan 19 2010

Devoted husband, father and grandfather, of Dallas, Texas, passed on January 19, 2010, to join his son Michael, granddaughter Susie, father and sister Marilyn in eternal peace. Born in Queens, NY, Feb. 14, 1944, to Ellen P. McGinity and Edward Lustberg, the first of twelve children, Ed not surprisingly lived his life giving in every way to his family. He attended St. Benedict Joseph Catholic School, Brooklyn Preparatory High School and St. John’s College. He married the love of his life, Patricia Ann Donohue, on June 8, 1963, in Richmond Hill, NY. Together they had four children and were blessed with ten grandchildren. With a lifelong career in the restaurant industry, Ed was an effective team leader with a work ethic and drive that most people cannot comprehend. He was recognized consistently for his outstanding achievements within his company and industry. Anyone having had the pleasure to work with or for Ed appreciated that opportunity. Ed spent many years in Tulsa, OK, where he was actively involved in the St. Pius Catholic Church and School and in the Green Country Soccer Association. Ed was an avid reader, loved speed boats, water sports and adrenaline-rising rides. He enjoyed playing tennis and cooking (at which he was extraordinary). But his passion was his family. Ed retired recently and he and his wife Pat returned to Dallas to spend time together and with their grandkids, prioritizing their activities, from baseball, basketball and soccer games, to karate, swim team, tennis and music performances. Deeply devoted to his wife of 46 years, his children, his grandchildren, his mother and his siblings, his presence among us will be missed. He is survived by his wife, Pat; mother, Ellen; daughter Paula Cerefice and husband Jeff (Tulsa, OK); son Edward Lustberg and wife Debbie (Allen, TX); daughter Lori Smith and husband Dave (Dallas, TX); grandchildren Michelle Benton, Grady Benton, Jeffrey Cerefice, Michael Cerefice, Rebecca Lustberg, Eddie Lustberg, Katie Lustberg, Emory Smith and Calista Smith; sisters Debra Papert, Laura Matheos and Pat Hothersall; brothers, Greg Lustberg, Gary Lustberg, Robert Lustberg, Douglas Lustberg, Ronald Lustberg, Wayne Lustberg and Gerard Lustberg; his nephew John Gregorovic and dozens more loving nieces and nephews; and his dear Maltese - Murphy. Viewing and visitation will be held Fri., Jan. 22, beginning at 5 p.m. and rosary vigil at 7 p.m., at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home, 2525 N. Central Expwy (Allen, TX); funeral Mass, Sat. Jan 23, 12:30 p.m., at St. Rita Catholic Church, 12521 Inwood Rd., Dallas, with committal and burial to follow at Ridgeview Memorial Park, 2525 N. Central Expwy (Allen, TX). In lieu of flowers, please consider an honorary donation to the American Cancer Society (with donation preference - colorectal cancer), www.cancer.org.
