Edward Calvin Kent

Edward Kent was born March17, 1924 in Trenton, Texas to Eddie and Flora Dodson Kent. He passed away surrounded by his family on October 7, 2010 at Texoma Medical Center in Denison, Texas. He graduated from Whitewright High School in 1942. He and Juanita England were married on May 18, 1942 in Durant, Oklahoma. He worked for Standard Oil - Chevron for 30 years, first as a pumper-gauger and then as a production foreman before retiring to farm and raise cattle. He especially enjoyed working alongside his grandson as they repaired, restored and collected farm equipment. For over 50 years he was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Whitewright and Marvin Methodist Church. He was a 32nd degree Mason for 60 years. He was preceded in death by his son Jimmy Calvin Kent. He is survived by his wife of 68 years Juanita Kent; daughter and son-in-law Linda and Larry Deeds; grandson Edward Lynn Deeds; and granddaughter, Susan Katharine Deeds, all of Whitewright. He also leaves behind siblings, Gwen McClement of Carman, Manitoba; Dan Kent of Denison, Texas; Irene Skipworth of Shreveport, Louisiana; and Mildred Ates of Abilene, Texas. There will be no family night, but family and friends are invited to the funeral home to pay their respects and to sign the register book. Graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 9, at 1:00pm at Oak Hill Cemetery in Whitewright. Officiating the service will be Rev. Doyle Henderson and Rev. Eric Rothe. Pallbearers will be Roddy England, Don England, Charles Smith, Kevin Cox, Derek Rogers, and Bill Montgomery.
